Latin America: the Chilean market does not become a leader for the year

Wednesday, December 30, major indexes of Latin American stock markets showed mixed trends. The Brazilian Bovespa index managed to close the year with a maximum in the last six years of growth. Chilean IPSA index IGPA and also did not disappoint, showing in this year”s best results since 1993, and the outcome of yesterday”s session, having pleased investors, good macroeconomic statistics, the indicators were considered the leaders of growth.
Industrial production in Chile in November rose by 2,3% m /m and 1% y /y, while analysts expected incidence rate of 2% on rising demand for consumer goods. Industrial sales for the period fell 1.2% y /y as a result of lower demand for container for packaging of export fruit. The unemployment rate in the country in November fell from 9% a month earlier to 8,8%.
As a result of trading on the Bovespa in Brazil rose 0.43%, Colombian IGBC rose 0,29%, while the Argentine MerVal added 0,10%. As leaders of growth were the Chilean IPSA index and IGPA, an increase of 0,51%. Not supported by the overall positive dynamics of the stock markets are Chile, Mexico and Peru.
In the last trading day of the year representatives of the banking sector in Brazil managed to increase market capitalization. For example, shares of Itau Unibanco strengthened to 0.21%, the largest paper in the value of assets in Latin America, the creditor Banco do Brasil “recovered” at 2,59%, but rates Bradesco rose to 0.22%.
Market capitalization of the fourth to the market value of the world”s stock exchange operator BM FBovespa increased by 0,33%.
Not able to gain a foothold in the last trading session of 2009 shares of Petrobras and Vale, who have lost 0,3% and 0,47% respectively, against the backdrop of the value appreciation of the dollar and uncertain oil prices and metals.
