Net Profit Uralkali in 2008 under IFRS increased by 172% and amounted to 21.9 billion rubles

Net proceeds of JSC Uralkali in 2008 under IFRS increased by 140% to 54.3 billion rubles. Adjusted EBITDA ratio amounted to 41.3 billion rubles - to 242% higher than 2007. Return on adjusted EBITDA increased in 2008 to 76% compared with 53% a year earlier.

Net profits of the company amounted to 21.9 billion rubles, which is 172% higher than in 2007. The total amount of capital expenditures Uralkali increased by 127% over the previous year and amounted to 14.3 billion rubles.

In the third quarter of last year on international markets fertilizers began a significant decline due to global financial crisis. Because of the decline in effective demand business plan the company has been adjusted. As a result, in 2008, Uralkaliy produced 4.8 million tons of potassium chloride instead of the planned 5.4 million tons.
